Thursdays and Fridays: 6-9pm
Saturdays: 4-8pm
Sundays: 1-5pm
Wednesday Sept. 26 (Art in the Alley) 5-8pm
3 Elm Street, downtown Waterbury
After Irene is a "Community-Created Visual Art Collection Brims with Personal, Public Responses" to the damage created by Tropical Storm Irene on August 28 last year. Extensive sections of Waterbury were flooded damaging homes and commercial buildings. Since then, the town has recovered well but not fully.
This art project created literal blank slates for people to transform into individual works of art. More than 250 of these slates have been submitted with images created using a wide variety of media – paint, collage, photographs, print and more. Artists range in age from preschool and elementary school children in Waterbury, Moretown and the Mad River Valley to elderly residents working together at the local senior center. The works are unique to each person’s point of view and experience but they share the common theme of the storm, the flood and its aftermath.
Special supporters of this project include Revitalizing Waterbury and the Episcopal Church of Vermont. The gallery space is handicapped accessible. For more information, contact Sarah-Lee Terrat via email: Sarahlee@revitalizingwaterbury.org.
Shipwreck Tours at Lake Champlain Maritime Museum

2012 Schedule
Saturday September 22, 11am - Noon
Saturday October 6, 11am - Noon
Looking for something different to do? Explore a shipwreck - without getting wet! There are more than 300 documented and intact shipwrecks in Lake Champlain dating from native American, French, British, Revolutionary War, War of 1812, shipping vessels, pleasure boats, and more. While underwater viewing is popular with scuba divers, it's now possible for non-divers to tour these wrecks from a surface boat equipped with a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) camera. This robot camera sends back live images to an on-board monitor while an expert from LCMM describes the sunken ship's history. It's a fun history lesson for both adults and children.
Preregistration required for these hour-long tours. Check in at LCMM 20 minutes before the tour departs from our neighboring waterfront Basin Harbor Club. Youth $18; Adult $22
