Waterbury Area Attractions and Shopping Guide
You can visit Vermont's #1 tourist attraction: Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream plant, a mecca for lovers of premium ice cream. Take a tour of the facility and watch those delicious flavors being made. A Scoop Shop and souvenirs are available there too.
Just a few minutes up the road in Waterbury Center are Cold Hollow Cider Mill, Lake Champlain Chocolates, and the Cabot Creamery Annex.
At the Cold Hollow Cider Mill you can watch them making cider from Vermont apple orchards, sample Vermont mustards and jams, watch bees making honey combs during warm weather months, enjoy fresh made cider donuts, and treat the kids to free cider popsicles.
In Waterbury village itself, boutique shopping opportunities include the Stowe Street Emporium, Bridgeside Books, and The Tiny Acorn. From spring to fall, there is a weekly farmers' market on the Main Street green with a variety of produce, Vermont raised meats, maple syrup, fresh flowers, and Vermont crafts. In the evening following the farmers' market there are free live music performances from some of Vermont's best known bands such as folk, bluegrass, brass band, country, and oldies rock 'n roll. Weekends in Waterbury offer a large flea market, a regionally popular destination for locals and visitors.
Waterbury has been fortunate to have the Revitalizing Waterbury volunteer organization and some local businesses which have restored some of the town's best architectural examples. There are restaurants, shops, pubs, retail stores, and offices you'll enjoy all within easy walking distance of each other.
